If you find yourself reading this page, no doubt you are probably worried about your skin and the sometimes unwelcome pimples that seem to pop up when you least expect them. We've all had an experience when we wake up, have a look in the mirror and groan with disgust as we see the big swollen red thing on the tip of our nose or worse, right between the eyes. Heaven forbid we have an important date or interview that day!
I am not a doctor but I am a Mom of four children. I have been through the teenage years with three of them. We have been to dermatologists, taken prescription medications and tried the celebrity endorsed products as seen on tv. Each of these things worked to some extent, but as a Mom I was worried about the long term effects of the meds and the products were just plain expensive especially when you have more than one teenager using them. I would like to share with you what we have found that works for us and I am hoping that you will share your remedies with us as well. Please feel free to post your comments below.
Some advice from this Mom on how to "Get Rid Of Zits."
1. Wash your face morning and night.
2. Change your pillow case often.
3. After taking a hot shower, be sure to splash cold water on your face to close your pores.
4. Never use anything with a perfume of any kind on your face. If you need a moisturizer, try something Non-Comedogenic like Cetaphil.
5. Make sure you are using clean towels daily.
6. Try an aspirin mask to dry out your pimples. This really works very well! Get about 10 regular aspirin and add a little water making a thick paste. Spread the paste on your face and leave it to dry until it starts to fall away from your face. Rinse with warm water remembering to end with cold water.
My kids swear by this one.
7. We finish up with a little "Silver Solution" which also dries the pimples and kills bacteria. If you would like additional information on Silver Solution, let me know and I will provide it for you. I think this stuff is magic in more ways than one.
8. Do not squeeze the pimple. I know you can't walk around with a big white pus filled zit, so go ahead and pop it but do it with a sterilized needle gently. If you don't have Silver Solution, I would suggest a little alcohol to dry the heck out of it.
9. If you really need to get rid of the red, try a little visine on the pimple to "get the red out."
10. If you can get hold of a color corrector this will also help especially if you are female. You can use this under your foundation. Yellow and green color corrector will cut the red leaving the pimple less conspicuous.
I hope this helps a little. I look forward to hearing your advice. :-)
